Chatsworth

Longford - Lutruwita, Tasmania

Historic Estate Full of Whimsy

Step back in time at Chatsworth, a luxurious country home nestled in Tasmania’s Northern Midlands. Built in 1838 on historical farmland, this retreat features Scandinavian-Australian styled interiors and accommodates guests in three charming bedrooms. With a warm embrace of ‘hygge’ amidst expansive, light-filled spaces, French doors open to a garden Eden where guests are encouraged to harvest from an abundant orchard and commune with nature. The current owners, Margit and Henry Smith - who is the fifth generation farmer of this property, as well as the previous owners, have lovingly preserved the original character while introducing modern comforts.

Whether casting a line in the Macquarie River, sharing a picnic by peony blossoms, feeding the chooks, or simply savouring a moment of tranquillity under high, wood-lined ceilings, Chatsworth seamlessly blends pastoral charm with the rich history of the region.
